Boston, MA – December 10, 2024 – Spectrum Integrated Technologies (Spectrum IT), the low-voltage technology division of J&M Brown Company, based in Dedham, MA, has reached substantial completion of the multifaceted security renovation and modernization project at International Place in Boston.

The project scope entailed Spectrum IT’s comprehensive lobby security system enhancements, including the installation of Orion Entrance Control Turnstiles, integration of state-of-the-art Elevator Destination Dispatch technology, and installation of HANWA Vision security cameras. Spectrum’s installation of an advanced Lenel/OnGuard Security Management System as well as a Milestone Video Management System are integral aspects of the project.

The project required updating the entire lobby security system infrastructure of the mixed-use high-rise office tower, including all cabling and the IT network backbone.

Terry Kilduff, Spectrum IT’s Manager of Security Operations and Foreman Eddie Amaro headed the project team, supervising the NECA Boston Chapter contractor’s crew of skilled IBEW Local 103 technicians. The fast-track project commenced in May 2024 and is on schedule for completion by year-end 2024.

Spectrum IT is serving on a project team headed by general contractor, Columbia Construction of North Reading, MA.  The project security consultant is ADRM, based in Woburn, MA. The Chiofaro Company is the owner of International Place.

“Spectrum IT is proud to have been called upon to provide security system renovations at International Place,” said Kilduff. “The key to meeting the advanced lobby security system requirements, and the project timeline, is the close coordination between Spectrum and our security vendors, and the collaborative effort among all project team members, headed by general contractor Columbia Construction,” said Kilduff.

Under separate contract, J&M Brown is providing electrical construction services for the lobby renovation project at One International Place.

International Place, comprised of One International Place (46 stories) and the adjoining Two International Place (35 stories), are Boston’s Financial District’s tallest and largest office towers, located along the Rose Kennedy Greenway at the intersection of the historic Financial District and Boston’s Seaport. The project is part of a $100 million renovation to the lobbies and entrances of both One and Two International Place.

Spectrum IT Completes IT Network for InterSystems Corp.’s Headquarters at One Congress, Boston, MA

Dedham, MA – February 2, 2024 – Spectrum Integrated Technologies (Spectrum IT), the low-voltage technology division of J&M Brown Company, has completed the first phase of the elaborate tel/data network project for InterSystems Corporation’s new headquarters at One Congress in Boston’s Bulfinch Crossing. InterSystems occupies 420,000 square-feet on the top 14 floors of the recently constructed landmark 43-story office tower.

Spectrum’s detailed and multifaceted tel/data project scope was comprised of:

  • the installation of InterSystems’ Cat 6-A cabling to all user outlets and wireless data outlets;
  • the fiber optic network backbone connecting to all IT rooms;
  • build-out of the iT rooms; the installation of the Distributed Antenna System (DAS);
  • pulling/connecting fiber optic and power cable from the building’s IT riser closet to the antennas throughout each of the floors;
  • build-out of the Main Distribution Frame (MDF) and IDF closets; and
  • providing corresponding state-of-the-art wireless solutions.

Phase one encompassed comprehensive network installations on floors 32-36. The NECA contractor commenced low-voltage work in March 2023 and the first phase was completed in December, as scheduled.

Project Manager Randy Silva and Foreman Jeff Xenakis are leading the Spectrum iT project team with a crew ranging upwards of 15 IBEW Local 103 technicians. The NECA contractor is working as a subcontractor to project GC, Elaine Construction of Newton, MA.

Phase two of the IT network project is underway and is scheduled for completion in 2024.

In a separate project, J&M Brown Company is providing the comprehensive electrical construction fit-out of InterSystems new headquarter offices.

Dedham, MA – February 10, 2024 – In December 2023, Spectrum Integrated Technologies (Spectrum IT), the low-voltage technology division of J&M Brown Company based in Dedham, MA, completed the fast-track IT network project at Medtronic’s offices at 10-20 Channel Center in Boston.

The multifaceted, network project entailed Spectrum’s installation of Cat-6 cabling to all work stations, robotic labs, and WAP locations in the Medtronic office and lab facility. The NECA Greater Boston contractor also installed the fiber optic backbone between demarcation points (Demarcs) and the MDFs/IDFs. In addition, the scope included upgrading the facility’s Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to support and enhance wireless coverage.

Cabling in the historic building, which features a wood and beam open floor design, was carefully installed to ensure the building’s aesthetics were maintained. All cabling in the main run is in exposed cable tray, and then neatly dressed and supported to numerous locations throughout all four floors.

Project Manager Chris Zybszynski and Foreman Ross Graham led the project team, comprised of 9 IBEW Local 103 technicians. Spectrum IT worked on a construction team headed by general contractor Gilbane Building Company. RS&H Massachusetts, Inc., based in Dallas, TX, served as the architect and electrical engineering firm. CV Properties, LLC is the owner of 10-20 Channel Center.

Under separate contract, J&M Brown Company provided electrical construction services in the fit-out / restoration project.

Dedham, MA – February 2, 2024 – Spectrum Integrated Technologies (Spectrum IT), the low-voltage technology division of J&M Brown Company based in Dedham, MA, has recently completed telecom network installations at JP Morgan Chase branch locations in Waltham and Gloucester, Massachusetts.

The project scope entailed Spectrum’s installation of Cat-6 cabling throughout both bank buildings as well as tel/data closet buildout, which included furnishing and installing Protocol Data Units (PDUs), Wireless Access Points (WAPs), and ATM outlets. The branch IT networks connect to JP Morgan Chase headquarters data centers via the cloud.

Project Manager Randy Silva, Project Coordinator Tracey Dorval, and Foreman Steve Warden headed the Spectrum project team supervising crews of IBEW Local 103 technicians.

Spectrum has completed IT network installations at 55 Chase Bank locations throughout Massachusetts over the past three years. The NECA contractor was also recently awarded the telecom installation projects at the East Longmeadow, Plymouth, South Boston, Lowell, Reading, and Orleans branch locations. Work on the Chase Bank Longmeadow branch will commence in February and the other locations are scheduled for Spring 2024.

Dedham, MA – January 30, 2024 – Spectrum Integrated Technologies (Spectrum IT), the low-voltage technology division of J&M Brown Company based in Dedham, MA, has completed the elaborate tel/data network project at Foundation Medicine’s new 16-floor, 580,000 square-foot headquarters at 400 Summer Street in Boston’s Seaport district.

Spectrum’s scope encompassed installations of Belden-manufactured network cabling, connectivity components and dynamic networking solutions throughout all 16-floors of the lab and office facility, as well as comprehensive MDF and IDF closet build-outs, and sound masking in all office areas. The large-scale IT project’s numbers are impressive: In total, Spectrum IT installed more than 1.5 million feet of fiber optic and copper cable; over 7,000 user outlets with 14,000 terminations; and build-outs for Foundation Medicine’s 22 IT rooms.

Spectrum Project Manager Randy Silva and Foreman Scott Francis headed the project team, managing a crew of 20 IBEW Local 103 technicians at peak construction. The two-year, four month project was completed as scheduled in December 2023. Spectrum IT worked in close cooperation with their networking product manufacturer, Belden to effectively manage supply chain challenges and meet Foundation Medicine’s timeline requirements.

Foundation Medicine, a subsidiary of Roche, is a global cancer-focused, genomic testing and clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. Foundation has begun a phased approach to moving all of its Boston area employees into its new Seaport headquarters.

Spectrum Integrated Technologies Completes Vineyard Wind Site Security Project at New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal

Dedham, MA – September 20, 2023 – Spectrum Integrated Technologies (Spectrum IT), the low-voltage technology division of J&M Brown Company based in Dedham, MA, has completed design, construction and integration of security systems at the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal for GE Renewable Energy.

The project scope included installation of card access and video surveillance for the site. Due to the site’s physical size and its location, the security system infrastructure required state-of-the-art wireless and Cloud-based solutions. Spectrum IT designed and deployed a 100% wireless transmission system coupled with a Solis battery-powered technology solution to power the security cameras and transmit video surveillance data.  The site’s card access security system communicates via a Cloud-based access control system.

Spectrum IT Director of Operations and Senior Project Manager Terry Kilduff headed the project team, managing the contractor’s crew of IBEW technicians.  Spectrum commenced work in December 2022 and the fast-track project was completed in June 2023.

MassCEC (Massachusetts Clean Energy Center) owns the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal, which is the onshore construction and staging operations site for Vineyard Wind, the first utility-scale offshore wind energy installation being developed in the U.S.  When complete, the 800MW Vineyard Wind 1 project will be comprised of 62 13MW wind turbines installed on monopoles in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 14 miles southeast of Martha’s Vineyard.

GE Renewable Energy is the supplier of the 13MW wind turbines, which are being staged and then transported offshore from the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal.

The 420 Rutherford building and the adjacent planned 440 Rutherford building are part of Related Beal’s new life science hub in Charlestown, branded under the name Charlestown Labs.

Dedham, MA – October 19, 2023 – Spectrum Integrated Technologies (Spectrum IT), the low-voltage technology division of J&M Brown Company, has been awarded the comprehensive security and tel/data project at the new 350 Boylston Street office building, located on the corners of Arlington and Boylston Street in Boston’s Back Bay.  The nine-story building (plus electrical penthouse), will also have two-levels of below-grade parking.

Under separate contract, J&M Brown is underway with the early phase electrical construction of 350 Boylston Street.  The Druker Co. is the project’s developer; JMA (John Moriarty and Associates) is the general contractor; and Robert A.M. Sterns is the architect. Bain and Co. will be the primary tenant at 350 Boylston Street.

October 19, 2022 – Bethesda, MD – Spectrum Integrated Technologies (Spectrum IT), the tel/data and security system division of J&M Brown Company, Inc. based in Dedham, MA, was recognized by the National Electrical Contractors Association with the 2022 NECA Project Excellence Award in the Low Voltage/Technology category for its Boston Beer Company Nationwide Integrated Security Project.

The project scope entailed Spectrum’s design, engineering, installation, integration and commissioning of security systems at Boston Beer Company’s headquarters facility in Boston, as well as at the company’s Sam Adams breweries and tap rooms in Boston, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York. The project also included comprehensive security system installations at Boston Beer’s Angry Orchard brand brewery and tap room in Walden, NY; Dogfish Head breweries and tap rooms in Miami, FL and Milton, DE; and at the Angel City Brewery/Truly LA for the company’s Truly LA seltzer brand.  All security systems tie-in to Boston Beer headquarters.
