Spectrum IT Completes Tel/Data Network Installations at Medtronic Facility, Channel Center, Boston, MA

Dedham, MA – February 10, 2024 – In December 2023, Spectrum Integrated Technologies (Spectrum IT), the low-voltage technology division of J&M Brown Company based in Dedham, MA, completed the fast-track IT network project at Medtronic’s offices at 10-20 Channel Center in Boston.

The multifaceted, network project entailed Spectrum’s installation of Cat-6 cabling to all work stations, robotic labs, and WAP locations in the Medtronic office and lab facility. The NECA Greater Boston contractor also installed the fiber optic backbone between demarcation points (Demarcs) and the MDFs/IDFs. In addition, the scope included upgrading the facility’s Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to support and enhance wireless coverage.

Cabling in the historic building, which features a wood and beam open floor design, was carefully installed to ensure the building’s aesthetics were maintained. All cabling in the main run is in exposed cable tray, and then neatly dressed and supported to numerous locations throughout all four floors.

Project Manager Chris Zybszynski and Foreman Ross Graham led the project team, comprised of 9 IBEW Local 103 technicians. Spectrum IT worked on a construction team headed by general contractor Gilbane Building Company. RS&H Massachusetts, Inc., based in Dallas, TX, served as the architect and electrical engineering firm. CV Properties, LLC is the owner of 10-20 Channel Center.

Under separate contract, J&M Brown Company provided electrical construction services in the fit-out / restoration project.
